A strand of bio-resins transforms into twisted threads of delicate, unevenly shaped, freshwater pearls as it moves around the neckline. This necklace is designed to sit above the collar bone and is fastened with an adjustable hook and eye clasp.

Inspired by a list of rivers that have reversed course due to climate change. The pieces in this collection course one way and then reverse and flow back in the opposite direction.

The piece is thoughtfully handcrafted using freshwater pearls and lilac resins, the fastening is made in brass and plated in 14ct yellow gold.

The necklace is available in one size only. The total length of the piece is 15.5 inches and can be adjusted to 16.5 inches.

Sustainability & Responsibility

Proudly & Responsibly made in Jinhua, China.

clips and claws are primarily made from cellulose acetate, a plant-derived bio-plastic, certified ISCC PLUS (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification). Compared to petroleum-based plastic, acetate is more durable and more biodegradable at end of life.

Acetate and metal hardware tested and free from Lead, Cadmium, Mercury, Chromium, PBBs, PBDEs and Phthalates.

Our manufacturing partners are up to date with:

- BSCI — Business Social Compliance Initiative

- ISO 9001 — International Standard for Quality Management Systems

- ISO14001 — Environmental Management Systems

Slight variations in color or pattern may occur due to the nature of the handmade acetate production. We use recycled metals processed by refiners that are dedicated to taking responsibility for adopting the best sustainable practices as soon as they become available. It is made by expert metalsmiths that simply melt down existing silver or gold to give a result that looks and feels exactly the same as new metal just without the same environmental impact. Our recycled glasses are made of scrap windows and bottle glasses.

OUR SUSTAINABLE CRITERIA

Organic

Organic products or materials that are grown in compliance with organic standards that can include requirements for how the materials are grown (avoiding the use of certain types of chemicals, pesticides, or synthetic fertilizers) or processed.

Environmentally Conscious

Products made with processes or incorporating materials that are made with processes that aim to improve or reduce the impact on the environment by taking into account factors such as water use, emission reduction, energy use, waste reduction, etc.

Recycled

Recycled materials are made by processes that convert consumer waste, such as scraps of fiber or plastic bottles, into reusable material, which in turn can be reprocessed into new products.

Plant Based

Plant-based materials are made with fibers derived from sources such as bark, wood, or cotton, and not from animals.

Upcycled

Repurposing old or vintage materials in such a way that creates a different product.

Eco-Friendly Materials

Our hair claw clips are crafted from sustainable materials, including biodegradable plastics and recycled metals. By using recycled materials, we save up to 95% of the energy required to produce new materials, which significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions—equivalent to the annual emissions from over 200 cars.

Minimal Packaging

We believe less is more! Our packaging is designed to be both functional and eco-conscious. By adopting sustainable packaging solutions, we have reduced our packaging waste by 30%, preventing approximately 5,000 pounds of plastic waste from entering landfills each year.

Manufacturing

We prioritize local artisans and manufacturers, significantly cutting carbon emissions associated with transportation. Sourcing locally can reduce transportation-related emissions by about 60-80% compared to products shipped from overseas. This means every purchase supports both the planet and local economies.

Recycling Program

Join us in our mission to reduce waste! We offer a recycling program where you can return your old hair claw clips. Recycling just one ton of plastic can save 7.4 cubic yards of landfill space and conserve 1,000-2,000 gallons of gasoline, equivalent to the energy needed to power an average household for two months.

Community Engagement

At [Your Shop Name], we actively engage with environmental organizations and participate in local sustainability initiatives. Last year alone, our partnerships helped plant over 1,000 trees, which can absorb approximately 48,000 pounds of CO2 over their lifetime, significantly contributing to carbon offset and biodiversity efforts.

8. Carbon Offsetting

To further our commitment to the planet, we are implementing carbon offset programs to counterbalance the emissions generated from our operations and shipping. By investing in renewable energy projects and reforestation efforts, we aim to offset 500 tons of carbon emissions annually, equivalent to the carbon sequestered by about 12,500 trees.

COMMITTED TO SUSTAINABILITY

Here’s how we manufacture high-quality products with minimal environmental impact.

We ship direct from the factory to you, reducing the carbon footprint of getting goods to the final destination.

Care

When you love something, you don't throw it away or replace it. You mend it. We can lovingly renew and restore sterling silver and gold vermeil jewellery - just like my grandparent's mended my clothes for me when I was a child.  Renewing scratches and minor damage:Small scratches, broken posts, missing stones - these can also be easily repaired - so they can last a life time and become heirlooms.

Keep all your  items looking their best with these general care tips:

  • Avoid products containing benzoyl peroxide, alpha hydroxy acids and chlorine bleach. These items may include: skin care and acne medication, hair products and dyes, cosmetics, toothpastes and household cleaning products.

  • For stain removal, try Oxyclean instead of bleach.

  • Do not use fabric softeners, dryer sheets, harsh liquid or powdered detergents.

  • Don't wash with clothing – zippers, hooks, etc. cause abrasion.

  • Wash similar items together – same color and fabric.
